Remedies against warts
Despite numerous methods of treatment, warts are difficult to eliminate due to their high risk of recurrence. It is important to treat warts with topical medication as soon as they appear, in order to prevent them from multiplying and spreading to other areas of the body.
Duofilm is an effective remedy for eliminating plantar warts, thanks to its combination of active ingredients salicylic acid (16.7%) and lactic acid (15%). The medication should be brushed onto the wart once a day, preferably in the evening.
In case of recurrent warts, if the wart has not disappeared after 12 weeks of treatment, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
Prevention and Advice
To prevent warts, avoid direct contact with affected people. For example, mothers can easily become infected by touching the warts on their children’s feet.
Avoid walking barefoot in gym and swimming pool showers, saunas and changing rooms. Also avoid walking barefoot around the edges of pools. Warm and humid environmental conditions favour the survival of the virus (HPV) in its active form, as well as making skin more prone to attack.
-
To prevent the risk of plantar warts, take care to maintain good skin hygiene, as cuts and damaged, dry skin facilitates infection by the virus.
-
Do not wear shoes that do not allow the foot to breathe. Always choose comfortable and breathable footwear to avoid the risk of warts. Wear socks that absorb the sweat from your feet.
-
Avoid sharing contaminated shoes, socks and towels, as well as fingernail and toenail care tools, such as files, clippers and scissors.
-
Avoid scratching and touching the warts to prevent them from spreading to other parts of the body
